The purpose of this program is to promote the development and expansion of new and existing business enterprises within the City of Tomball, Texas (the “City”), and enhance the economic welfare of the citizens of the City by securing and retaining business enterprises and maintaining a higher level of employment, economic activity, and stability.

Education

The area’s schools are first class with two public school districts, numerous private elementary and secondary schools, and a community college campus.  Lone Star College-Tomball is part of the ever growing Lone Star College System, which is the second largest community college system in the State of Texas with 85,000 students.

In addition to Tomball ISD, there are a number of accredited private and parochial schools of all grade levels offering educational choices.

Lone Star College Tomball

Tomball College is a member of the Lone Star College System, the fourth largest college district in Texas. With an enrollment of more than 8,500 students, Tomball College offers associate degree programs, university transfer courses, workforce certificate programs, adult education and leisure learning classes, and job skill upgrade training.

The college is the largest Cisco Regional Training Academy in the state and is one of only three Cisco Certified Network Professional Programs in the Houston Area. Its Computer Information Technology program was awarded exemplary status by the state. Some of the many CIT programs include:

Quality of Life

Tomball is a unique city with a culture deeply rooted in the traditional values of hard-working, patriotic, friendly, caring people.  It is located 28 miles from the heart of downtown Houston, but it has been able to maintain a small town community atmosphere with all the conveniences of the big city.

               

Recreation

Burroughs Park is a 330-acre Harris County recreational area recently developed just northeast of Tomball. It includes The Playground for All Children - a 10-acre playground designed to meet the needs of disabled children. It is completely wheelchair accessible and includes a lake, lighted and unlighted ball fields, concession stands, a pavilion, pathways, and picnic sites. Burroughs Park is a model for future park planning.

Spring Creek Park, another large county park, is located at the northwest edge of Tomball. With 110 covered picnic tables, basketball and tennis courts, ball fields, camping, RV hookups, and a playground, local residents are well served. Smaller local facilities include Juergens Park, Samuel Matthews Park, M.L.K. Park, Matheson Park, and Dyess Park.

The Tomball Sports Association, Cypress Creek YMCA, and Tomball Redcat Football groups provide youth sports programs.

Golfing activity in the area occurs at Tomball Country Club (18 holes), High Meadow Ranch Golf Club, and Houston Oaks Golf Club (36 holes). Tomball is near the 81-hole golfing complex in The Woodlands, and additional courses in the FM 1960 area.

Shopping & Restaurants

Tomball offers a wide range of shopping opportunities. The everyday shopping needs of residents are met with ready access to supermarkets and large department stores. Major area shopping malls are just minutes away. The flavor of the past is found in the quaint and inviting Downtown Shopping District, which offers more than 50 antique & collectable shops in the downtown area.

The area offers a variety of family and national chain restaurants. Whether it is Mexican, Italian, or American delicacies, the local restaurants will provide for a unique dining experience.

A number of major religious denominations are represented in the Tomball area. Numerous small country churches are also located nearby. Larger congregations include Tomball's First Baptist Church, Salem Lutheran Church, Episcopal Church of the Good Shepherd, First Presbyterian Church, and St. Anne Catholic Church.

Tomball is conveniently located just minutes from downtown Houston, George Bush Intercontinental Airport, and the Port of Houston. With easy access to major highways and rail lines, Tomball is a great place in which to do business!

Highways

Tomball has been blessed with a robust network of streets and highways to service local, regional, and national markets.  These roadways include:

  • Interstate 45:  Located less than 12 miles east of Tomball, this major transporation artery of Texas services markets from Dallas to Galveston. 
  • Beltway 8:  Located less than 14 miles south of Tomball, Beltway 8 services the entire greater Houston area.
  • State Highway 249:  SH 249 runs straight through Tomball and services markets from Stagecoach to downtown Houston.
  • State Highway 290:  This east-west thoroughfare runs straight through Tomball and connects the community to I-45 to the east and Waller/State Highway 290 to the west.    

Port
